This week the teachers have made some  You Tube storytime videos which are on You Tube; we hope the children enjoy them and appreciate seeing their teachers.

Art project
We are aiming to complete an art project in readiness for our return to school. We would like to create a family tree of all our children and their families so that when we return we have a wonderful positive memory of this challenging time in our country.

There will be a box outside school every weekday from 10.30-4pm. Inside the box are leaf templates; please take one home. (Alternatively, a template can be printed from Home Learning section of our school website- www.askernmossroad.com).

Colour the outline of the leaf green all the way around. Draw a picture of you and your family- older children could label their family members. Write your full name on the leaf. Post your finished leaf in the box outside school as part of your daily exercise. We can’t wait to see your designs and we will post a picture of our amazing family tree very soon. All pictures to be in by Friday 22^nd May 2020.

Home Learning
It was fantastic to see some parents on Thursday 23^rd April, when we gave out a new home learning pack for our children. It has become clear from talking to so many parents over the last few weeks that these packs are really appreciated and give a clear focus for the children’s learning.

We aim to have a new pack prepared for Monday 18^th May. As before, you are welcome to collect packs for friends’ children etc. Any parents unable to collect should inform class teachers when they contact you and we will arrange to have the packs delivered.

We would really encourage you to look regularly at our twitter account to see some wonderful examples of children learning at home. We love seeing photos of how creative you are being with your children and the things you are doing on your daily walks. Please follow us on Twitter: @MossRoadAcad.

As we have said a number of times, you are all doing a wonderful job by following government guidelines, staying at home and helping our NHS. Please remember that spending time with your child being creative, taking exercise, talking, laughing and looking after the well-being of each other is the most important thing.

VE DAY 75  
On Friday 8^th May, Britain will be commemorating the 75^th anniversary of VE Day when the guns when the guns fell silent at the end of the war in Europe. 75 years ago, this was a day marked by joyful partying and speeches by King George V1 and Sir Winston Churchill. Due to the coronavirus restrictions, most VE Day 75 events and street parties have had to be cancelled or postponed but we still want you to be able to mark the occasion!

Why not have a stay at home picnic?  Decorate your house red, white and blue, and enjoy a picnic in your house or garden! It would be great to see home-made bunting displayed in windows and around your house for others to see while out on their daily walk. Please share your pictures with us on our Twitter feed @Moss RoadAcad, using the hashtag #VEDay75 and #Great British Bunting.

Class Teachers
Your child’s teacher will continue to make a weekly phone call to have a chat and answer any questions you may have. The children may even want to speak to their teacher. This regular contact is so important for everyone, keeping us all connected. Please ensure that we have your up to date contact details. Get in touch with the Duty Team at Campsmount if updates are needed on 01302 700002.

Childcare Provision
As you will be aware we continue to provide childcare for students across the Trust at Campsmount Academy. This is available for children of key workers and our most vulnerable and the numbers accessing this provision has been relatively stable during this last week. As before, if you are classed as a critical worker and need your child to access the emergency childcare provision please let us know by emailing info@legereducationtrust.com

Free School Meals
For those in receipt of Free School Meals the Government national voucher system, through Edenred, has been rolled out locally. All families to whom this applies should now have received vouchers for 5 weeks which covers the period up to the 8^th May 2020.

However, although there continues to be some issues with this system at a national level, the staff at Campsmount have been working hard to ensure that all families are clear on the process and can access the provision. Vouchers will be sent to the email address held for you at school.

If you have not received your vouchers please check your clutter/spam/junk folders. We are aware that the Edenred website is often very busy and we have found the quieter times to redeem codes are before 9.00am or after 6.00pm. If you require assistance regarding the vouchers please email meals@legereducationtrust.com.  Also, if any families feel they need further support, either financially or otherwise, please contact school and we will of course make every effort to help.

Leger Education Trust Project
