The Met Office has extended a red extreme heat warning for Sunday 17 July, Monday 18 July and Tuesday 19 July.
Temperatures will build this weekend and early next week for much of England and Wales.
The red warning highlights likely adverse health effects for the public, not just limited to those most vulnerable to extreme heat. Temperatures are expected to reach up to 37 degrees on Monday and Tuesday.
We are asking that all children are sent to school on these days in loose and light coloured clothing. Please also ensure that your child brings their water bottle and that they have had sunscreen applied. A wide brimmed sunhat or baseball cap will also help.
We will be following the following gov.uk guidance and we expect the school days to operate as normal although there will be changes to timetables to limit sun exposure and exercise.
Sports Day has been postponed until September and the Y2 Leavers' party will take place during the school day on Monday- not after school as previously planned.
Please refer to the government guidance for looking after children during heatwaves.
